Skydemon is an excellent planning and navigation tool, by far the best of the bunch with regard to functionality.
The only downside i can think of is the level of detail on the map, which is far less compared to tools that use official charts.
I also realize that when zoomed in with these tools (like Airnav pro and RunwayHD), the chart becomes unreadable, which stays perfect with SD's vector charts.
However, when planning VFR i often miss specific details.
Would it be possible so develop a Google Map overlay which you can temporarily use to select a waypoint?

It's not possible due to the different projections used.
You can, if you like still do the same - albeit manually.
If you right click on a Google maps page in the browser and choose 'what's here?' from the pop up menu, it will give you the co-ordinates in this format (51.439323,-1.075158) - just paste that straight into the Add Waypoint menu - ignore the fact that the format is not as specified... it will work.
